When to Visit Madagascar

Madagascar can be visited year-round, but the dry season (April to November) offers the most comfortable conditions for travel. The whale-watching season on Île Sainte-Marie runs from June to September.

Visa Requirements

Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Ivato International Airport. The fee is approximately €35 for a 30-day visa.

What to Pack

Layers are essential β€” Madagascar's climate varies dramatically from coast to highlands. Don't forget: good walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, binoculars, and a camera with a good zoom lens.
